Getting Started

Q: What is Paw Park Pulse?
A: Paw Park Pulse helps dog owners discover and explore dog parks in their area. You can find parks on a map, check in with friends, share reviews, and suggest park information—all built around a welcoming community.

Q: What are the system requirements?
A: iOS 14.0 or later on iPhone or iPad. The app works best with location services enabled.

Q: Do I need an account?
A: You can browse parks without an account, but to check in, leave reviews, or save favorites, you'll need to sign up using your Apple ID or email.

Q: How do I sign up?
A: Open the app, tap the Account tab, and follow the sign-up prompts. You can use Apple Sign In for quick signup.


Using the App

Q: How do I find dog parks near me?
A: Open the app and allow location access. The map will automatically show dog parks near your current location. You can tap any park for details.

Q: What does "Check In" mean?
A: Checking in tells the community you're at a park right now. Other users can see who's checked in, helping you connect with fellow dog owners and know if a park is busy.

Q: How do I add a new dog park?
A: If a park is missing, open the app's menu and tap "Suggest a Park." Fill in the details and submit. The park may not show up right away—we have a semi-autonomous system in place that requires multiple users to suggest the same additions/changes for them to take effect.

Q: Can I suggest changes to a park?
A: Yes! On any park's detail page, tap "Suggest a Change" to report updates like new amenities, corrected hours, or closed facilities.

Q: Can I upload photos?
A: Currently only dog photos are supported. We want to implement a park photo feature in the future.

Q: Can I see my dog's profile in the app?
A: Yes. When you sign up, you can optionally add your dog's name, breed, and a note. This profile is private and only you see it.


Account & Subscriptions

Q: What's included in the Paw Park Pulse subscription?
A: We offer two tiers:

Tier Price Features
Single $2.99/month Ad-free browsing, ability to add more than one dog profile, plus future features
Family $9.99/month Includes everything in Single, plus family sharing

(Pricing may vary by region.)

Q: How do I manage my subscription?
A: Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store. In the app, go to Account > Manage Subscription, or adjust it in your device Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions.

Q: Can I cancel anytime?
A: Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time via the App Store. It will end at your next billing date.

Q: Is there a free trial?
A: Check the subscription section in the app for current trial offers.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Payments are processed through Apple. We accept any payment method you've added to your Apple ID.


Privacy & Data

Q: Is my location data safe?
A: Yes. Your location is used only to show nearby parks and is never sold to advertisers or third parties. You can disable location in your device settings anytime, though core map features may be limited.

Q: What happens if I delete my account?
A: Your personal profile data, photos, and subscription records are deleted within 24 hours. Park suggestions and reviews you submitted are anonymized. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Q: Do you collect analytics?
A: We currently don't collect any analytics. You can disable analytics in Settings > Account > Anonymous Analytics.

Q: Who can see my check-ins?
A: Your check-ins are visible to other app users at that park, but we do not share this data with third parties.


🔧 Troubleshooting

App Won't Open or Keeps Crashing

  1. Force close the app: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-tap Home), find Paw Park Pulse, and swipe up.
  2. Restart your device: Turn off your iPhone/iPad, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
  3. Check for updates: Open the App Store, search for Paw Park Pulse, and tap Update if available.
  4. Reinstall if needed: Delete the app from your home screen, then reinstall it from the App Store.

Map Won't Load or Shows No Parks

  1. Check internet connection: Make sure you're on WiFi or have cellular data enabled.
  2. Enable location access:
    • Go to Settings > Paw Park Pulse > Location
    • Select "While Using the App"
  3. Restart location services:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
    • Toggle off, wait 10 seconds, toggle back on
  4. Refresh the map: Navigate away and back to the map.

Location Services Not Working

  1. Verify permission: Settings > Paw Park Pulse > Location should be set to "While Using the App"
  2. Check device setting: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services must be On
  3. Try airplane mode reset: Turn Airplane Mode on for 5 seconds, then off again
  4. Disable and re-enable: Go to Settings, turn Location Services off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on

ℹ️ If location still doesn't work, some parks may not be visible, but you can still search by name.


Can't Sign In

  1. Verify your credentials: Double-check your email or Apple ID
  2. Check internet: Ensure you have a stable connection
  3. Reset your password: Use the "Forgot Password?" option on the login screen and check your email
  4. Try signing out and back in:
    • Go to Account > Sign Out
    • Force close the app
    • Reopen and sign in again
  5. Apple ID issues: If using Apple Sign In, verify your Apple ID is working in Settings

Check-Ins Not Appearing

  1. Confirm you're signed in: Check-ins require an active account
  2. Check internet connection: A strong WiFi or cellular connection is required
  3. Wait a moment: New check-ins may take a few seconds to appear

Photos Won't Upload

  1. Check internet: Ensure a stable connection
  2. Verify file size: Photos should be under 5 MB
  3. Check permissions: Go to Settings > Paw Park Pulse > Photos and select "Read and Write"
  4. Try a smaller file: Compress the photo and try again
  5. Restart the app: Force close and reopen Paw Park Pulse

Subscription Not Working or Appears Locked

  1. Refresh app: Force close and reopen
  2. Check App Store: Make sure your subscription is active in Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
  3. Restart device: Turn off and on again
  4. Sign out and back in: Log out of Account and sign back in
  5. Verify payment method: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Payment Method and confirm it's valid

Getting Blank Screens or Lag

  1. Force close the app
  2. Restart your device
  3. Check storage: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage—make sure you have space
  4. Update the app: Open App Store and check for updates
  5. Reinstall if problem persists: Delete and reinstall Paw Park Pulse
